In 2017 I began making two-dimensional sun catchers strung together in sets of three with chain. Using natural imagery like snakes, eggs, bones, flowers, and moons. These pieces commemorated concepts such as coping with grief, balancing strength and gentleness, the desire to protect our natural world, and prompts for self care. A talisman is a an object thought to bring good fortune, so each piece made was done so lovingly and with intention. I was fortunate to receive recognition from this work in a short artist feature on CBC Arts that aired July 2018.
Working closely with the client, commissioned talismans come together collaboratively. Colours, design ideas, and compromises are always discussed. A degree of storytelling about the person/people it is for helps to inform the creation. When I am taking commissions I ask that the client give at least 3-4 weeks notice of the date the piece is needed for and a general idea of symbols, imagery, and feeling they would associate with the receiver. Please contact for inquiries.
